Add your name to our submission today. Tell the government that Woodside's Browse Gas Project's climate damage to the Great Barrier Reef must be assessed.

Why is this important?

The Great Barrier Reef is an irreplaceable wonder, home to thousands of fish and coral.

For the first time, scientific evidence has shown the impact that climate pollution from Woodside’s Browse Gas Project in WA will have on the GBR. And for the first time in eight years, the federal government wants to know what the public thinks about Browse.

Why now?
Our friends at the Australian Conservation Foundation made a request to the Environment Minister to review the scope of the federal environmental assessment, kicking off this round of consultation.

The scientific experts have looked at the project and found its climate pollution will have a disastrous impact on the Great Barrier Reef, increasing coral deaths in mass bleaching events.

This new evidence and the public comment period is our chance to make some noise about Woodside's plans. In addition to the impact on the Great Barrier Reef, Woodside wants to drill 50 gas wells in the pristine Scott Reef. Let’s make sure the Environment Minister hears how many people don’t want this project to go ahead.

Key points in our submission
Here are the key points in the 350 submission you’re adding your name to:
  • The climate impacts from the Browse Gas Project must be considered.
  • New scientific information shows the extent of the impact of Browse’s climate pollution on the Great Barrier Reef.
  • The original referral decision on the Browse Gas Project should be changed to take into account these climate impacts on the Great Barrier Reef.
