Stop the Hyperscale AI Data Centre in Campbellfield

The Petition of certain citizens of the State of Victoria draws to the attention of the Legislative Council, concerns about the rapid approval of new and the expansion of existing Mega and Hyperscale AI Data Centres in Victoria, particularly the proposed six-building data centre development at 300–340 Barry Road, Campbellfield, 180m (approximate 2 min walk) from residential properties.
Petitioners are concerned that the scale, concentration and location of these facilities may have significant individual and cumulative implications for electricity demand and infrastructure, water consumption, residential communities, continuous and low frequency noise, air quality, fire and emergency safety, transport and other infrastructure, land use and the environment.
The Petitioners therefore request that the Legislative Council call on the Victorian Government to:
1 — Impose an immediate moratorium
2 — Establish a public inquiry into impacts on electricity supply and infrastructure, water consumption, residential communities, noise and air pollution, fire and emergency safety, transport and other infrastructure, land use and the environment.
3 — Reject the proposed Campbellfield Mega AI Data Centre (planning permit application PA260436)

Why is this important?
The people of Campbellfield and Broadmeadows are standing up against the hyperscale AI data centre planned for the old Ford assembly line site - a 6 building monstrosity just 180m from homes.
If we can make sure there are as many local objections to this AI data centre, we can demonstrate to the Victorian Government that this project has no public support, is a danger to the community, and mustn’t go ahead.
It’s crucial that we pause AI and data centres now, before they get out of control, so we can get the regulations and safety precautions in place to protect all of us and our future.
